Our Background: Healthy Homes’ founder & owner, Lin Marie Carey got her expertise as a licensed Home & Radon Inspector while working for her family’s business, Pro Tech Home Inspections. Pro Tech is one of the leading Home Inspection/Radon Testing companies in the Chicagoland area with over 23 years experience. Lin Marie’s Home Inspection license also qualifies her to inspect mitigation systems, conduct maintenance inspections and offer professional advice on general inspection issues. More importantly, she is more than simply a “radon tester”. Healthy Homes continually strives to advocate for you and your client by working with state (IEMA) and national (EPA, AARST) regulators/legislators to improve the quality of testing here in B-N.

Our Equipment: Striving to narrow the gap between a 3.9 & a 4.0, we go the extra mile and use Radalink Radon Monitors which are one of the most sophisticated and accurate monitors available. Radalink’s “little green machines” have a counting efficiency that is 10 times greater than many of the monitors used by our competitors, ensuring high statistical confidence in each hourly reading. Our monitor’s higher sensitivity helps ensure accuracy in your client’s test results and prevents unnecessary mitigation and undue worry. Equally important, our monitors give an hourly record of environmental data that shows us whether test conditions were compromised.

Our Procedures: Our procedures exceed EPA/IEMA requirements. In our efforts to narrow the gap between a 3.9 & a 4.0, we go the extra mile and have contracted an independent, certified lab to analyze & certify every test report. Each page of this final 6 page report contains a copy of EPA/IEMA required documentation showing buyers and sellers alike that we have done our job according to protocol. The final report includes:
1) The hourly readings with a final average
2) Hourly recordings of environmental data (temperature, humidity, barometric pressure) to show us if the test conditions were compromised
3) A copy of the non-interference agreement signed by the owner/occupant
4) A copy of the foundation sketch indicating the location of the radon monitor (ensuring proper placement protocol was followed)
5) EPA mitigation regulations
6) State and federal hotline information where your client can report us if they suspect any violations in protocol.
